           Among millions of people in the world, the world is remembering very few of them only. The one amongst those peoples is Gandhi, our Father of the Nation. We are still remembering Gandhiji owing to the uniqueness he followed in the Indian Freedom struggle. He is the one who started the Satyagraha (Non-violence) movement during the journey of Indian Independence. Today is Gandhi Jayanti, that is we are celebrating his 150th birthday. Let us see a short glance about Mahatma Gandhiji's travel in Indian Independence.

Short Biography of Mahatma Gandhi:

• Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in the name of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
• His native is Porbandar, Gujarat.
• In the book "Autobiography of Gandhi", it is mentioned that he is shy to speak in his school days.
• Due to the bad impact of the British and some of the discriminative systems in India, he started his journey as a fighter against that gradually.
• He fought against untouchability and caste system in India.
• In 1930, he has organized Dandi Salt march-past and most of the people joined hands with him.
• In 1942, he has implemented the Quit India Movement.
• On 30th January 1948, he was shot by Nathuram Godse three times in his chest and died.

• Gandhi Jayanthi is celebrated all over India in schools, colleges, local Government Institutions, and Socio-Political Institutions. On this special day, painting and essay competitions will be conducted for the students.
• It is one of the National holidays in India.
• In these institutions, Bhajan (Hindu Devotional Songs) and Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram is usually sung in his memory.
• On 15th June 2007, UN General Assembly announced October 2 as an International Day of Non-violence.
