My Experience in Kushal Nagar, Coorg
Started our journey from Mysore at 5 pm. It was a bus trip. Along the road, surrounded by greenery on both sides. It's a perfect sun-kissed time with warm, yellow sunlight and a gentle breeze that feels good.
Altogether, it was a beautiful experience on a budget-friendly trip. We reached Kushalnagar, Madikeri, by 8 pm, which is about 3 hours from Mysore.
Kushal Nagar is a major town in the Coorg(Kodagu) district. It is a commercial place, famous for tibetians golden temple, Cauvery Nisargadhama, Dubare elephant camp and the Hirangi Dam. Scroll down to get detailed information on each place.

These are the pics captured in the morning, where we stayed. The day starts with a gloomy atmosphere, and rain drizzles on and off. But after mid-morning, the weather changed to bright sunlight. Anyhow, we enjoyed the climate.

It is a unique eco-tourism destination, which allows tourists to interact closely with the elephants, feeding and bathing them. Other activities like jeep safari, coracle boat ride and river rafting is also there.
This place is located in Kushalnagar, Siddapur. Timings are alloted in two sessions: 9:00 AM to 11:00 Am and 4:30 PM to 5:30 Pm. Though the camp is open year-round, it is recommended to visit during post-monsoon months from september to march.
Harangi Dam:
Harangi River, a tributary of the Kaveri River in Kushalnagar, Coorg. Hirangi Dam is a popular tourist place, which is known for its serene beauty and bird watching during the monsoon(August-September). It offers picturesque views when the water is full during the monsoon.
This place is surrounded by hills and forests, which present a soothing and calm atmosphere. Chamundeshvari temple is located nearby, and a small garden is there in the dam.
Nisargadhama Eco Park:
A 64-acre island eco-park formed by the kaveri river near kushalnagar in Coorg. This place is about 28 km from Madikeri. It is popular for its hanging rope bridge, bamboo grooves, sandalwood/ teak trees and wildlife.
And other facilities like childrens park and eateries are available to enjoy. At the entrance, so many commercial shops are there for shopping. It opens daily from 9 AM to 5 PM.
Golden Temple (Namdroling Monastery):
The Golden Temple is located in Bylakuppe, and the specific location is Arlikumari. It opens daily from 9Am to 6 PM with free entry. The temple features a golden architecture with a four-story tower at the entrance and colourful murals on the walls.
In the main hall, a 40-foot-tall gilded statue of Guru Padma Sambhava, Buddha Sakyamuni, and Amitayus is located, which is a main attraction of the temple. Around 5000 monks and nuns are worshipping in this temple.
Visitors are also welcome to visit the well-maintained garden. Also, you can explore the nearby tibetian market, local cuisine and other small monasteries in the area.
