Cloth Diaper and uses - Is it really worth or not??

           Cloth Diaper

A long ago, cloth nappies are used for the newborn babies. This is eventually changed to disposable diapers and cloth diapers in foreign countries. Now, these diapers are easily available in Indian markets also. Some other newborn essential details are available in the below link.

Before talking about cloth diapers, we need to know some details about disposables. These diapers are available in few styles. Among that, pant style diapers are much familiar and comfortable one. Brands like mamypoko pants, Huggins, cuddles, babyhug, Himalaya, Johnsons baby, Me Mee, Bella, Chicco, Pampers etc, are marketing these nappies.
I'm using pampers for my baby at night. It is available in pant style with two different types.
One is pampers premium and a normal pant style diaper. The only difference in pampers premium is wetness indicator. An yellow line is there, which turns to blue when the diaper is fully wet.
Disposable are very familiar one for all the mommies. It undergoes some discomfort in the babies like itching, rashes etc. So, I recommend you to blindly go for cloth diapers which are rashes free. Since, I'm preferring cloth diaper for the following reasons.

  1. Reusable: It can be used for many times until you are using diapers for your baby.
  2. No diaper Rashes: Some babies will get diaper rashes frequently using disposables. When it comes to cloth diaper, it is rashes free.
  3. Money saving: It is a one time investment and you can use it for a long time. So invest in good quality cloth diapers based on your usage.
  4. Size upto 5 to 15 kg: The adjustable snaps/ buttons provided in the cloth diaper helps to use it for maximum upto 17 kgs.
  5. Environment friendly: Disposables take so long years to decay. Since it is use and throw, the wastage is very high. Cloth diapers are very eco-friendly. It will not be a harmful one for the environment.
  6. Potty Training: While using cloth diaper for babies, potty training will be very easier. Babies will feel the poop or urine instantly and feel it uncomfortable. But, incase of cloth diapers it is not possible.
  7. Others: It has soft and stretchy bottom. The cloth diaper material is breathable and chemical free
Disadvantages of Cloth Diaper:

  • It takes one day to dry after washing.
  • The initial investment is little costly than the disposables. But it is worth the buy.
  • It doesn't last long time like the disposables. You should change it frequently.
  • Washing is not required for the disposables. You just through it out after using. However, cloth diapers should be washed daily.
  • It is difficult to use in public places.
