        Some babies will not accept store bought cerelac. So homemade cerelac is the best substitute for that. Obviously it is homemade, there is no need to worry. If you are seeking for healthier and weight gain food for six months plus baby, then this homemade cerelac is the best option. It will satisfies the nutritional need of the babies. Make sure, you are feeding pureed vegetables, fruits etc, along with the cerelac. If you are able to give a food which had proteins, calcium, carbs etc, that is equally good enough. But, once you prepared the homemade cerelac powder, it will be much easier to prepare food for your baby daily. As well as, you are somewhat relieved from thinking about your baby food.

Homemade Cerelac Ingredients:

  • Rice - 1 cup
  • Moong Dhal - 2 teaspoon
  • Masoor Dhal or Toor Dhal - 2 teaspoon
  • Urad Dhal - 2 teaspoon
  • Horse Gram - 2 teaspoon
  • Broken Wheat - 2 teaspoon
  • Badam - 7 
  • Cashew - 7

How to Prepare Homemade Cerelac Powder:

  • Take a cup of rice and wash it. After washing, wipe it in a clean cloth and dried it.
  • Then take remaining all the ingredients (except broken wheat) and wash it. 
  • Spread it over a cloth ,wipe the water and let it dry completely.
  • Take a pan and dry roast the rice in low flame.
  • When it is dried, put the broken wheat along with that.
  • You can feel the nice aroma of wheat and rice. Take it and cool completely.
  • Then, add all the lentils in the pan and dry roast it.
  • Once it done, cool completely.
  • Your cerelac mixture is ready to grind.
  • Blend it to a fine powder and seive it. Preserve it in an air tight container.

Cerelac Preparation Using the Homemade Cerelac Powder:

  • Take one teaspoon full of the powder in a pan and add 2 cups of water.
  • Whisk it without lumps and start boiling in low flame.
  • Stir continuously and cook.
  • After 10 minutes, the mixture starts thickening.
  • It will turns glossy after 13 minutes and cooked completely.
